FFP2, KN95, N95 and KN94 standard and their origin
After the outbreak of COVID19 people has started using PPE and in particular face masks. There are so many buzz words coming out from media and it could be quite foreign. Let's go through them here.
Firstly, let's explain N95, KN95 well these standards are pretty much based on the same concept, filtering 95% of particles which are bigger than 0.3 microns. The N95 is an American standard while KN95 is a Chinese standard. KN94 standard is Korean standard and FFP2 is a European standard which is also used in the UK.
Both N95 and KN95 rated masks are effective at filtering out at least 95% of particles. FFP2 masks are rated at 94%. For this reason, N95 and KN95 masks are very slightly more effective than FFP2 and KF94.
